　　In the United States, it is not usual to telephone someone very early in the morning. If you telephone him early in the morning, while he is shaving（刮胡子） or having breakfast, the time of the call shows that the matter is very important and needs immediate（立刻的） attention. 　　Many American presidents in the 19th century were born in poor families. They spent their childhood in little wooden rooms. They got little education. Washington and Lincoln, for example, never went to school and they taught themselves. Lincoln once did jobs of worker, shopkeeper and post-master in his early years.
